Precision hollow components with high material efficiency
In cold forging, hollow parts offer particular potential for cost-effective and material-efficient component production. Through targeted forming, the material is shaped directly into the desired hollow geometry, meaning that, compared to components produced by machining, there is virtually no scrap. This high material utilisation can contribute to significant cost savings, particularly when producing large quantities. At the same time, complex internal and external contours can be produced with a high degree of dimensional accuracy. Depending on the design, features such as through-holes, blind holes, steps or varying wall thicknesses can be achieved. The efficient cold forging process also enables an exceptionally high output of up to 300 parts per minute. This makes hollow parts particularly suitable for automated large-scale production in the automotive industry and other industrial applications. After forming, the components can be precisely tailored to their intended function through further machining steps. Customised heat treatments and coatings are also available on request. Hollow parts produced by cold forging thus combine low material wastage, high production speeds and precise component geometries to form a particularly cost-effective manufacturing solution.
